Vijana Barubaru, a rapidly emerging Kenyan Afro-pop duo, have returned with the blockbuster hit song “Mbao Moja.”
Vijana Barubaru is the newest boy band in Kenya from Mathare slums- Nairobi made up of Spikes Mshairi, a rapper with a great influence of poetry and Tuku Kantu who is a seasoned vocalist and a songwriter.
Unlike most new and young musical groups/artistes that resort to writing trendy feel-good music in order to easily break the market, we choose something deeper and different – we write about life.
The inspiration behind our catchy and touchy lyrics comes from the tough ghetto environment we grew up in, with some of our peers never getting to see adulthood due to extreme poverty, insecurity, joblessness which in turn leads many young people into crime, drugs and inappropriate sexual behavior.
